Adventures out of the Lab

Some adventures outside of the lab and some projects One is working on.

Python Hoodie.

One Did in fact make my 3hr goal last week for studying Python 3hrs a week, but it was close. Tonight One has 34 minutes in the python bank and at Least 2.5 hours to get tonight or tomorrow. It'll be close again.

The Maltese Falcon

The Maltese Falcon came up, and One remembered, deep in the Library - which is currently buried, One Has a Maltese Falcon. The Library is So offline, it'll take months of processing clutter to even get to the entrance. But the work continues.

Irish Breakfast

Irish Breakfast at the local Irish Pub. The chef likes to bring One burned food. Not sure if this is his method, or if he secretly bears some grudge against me. It's all edible, but just a little bit off. And the portions have gotten a little bit more sparse keeping in line with our country's economy. The ham slices were robust in a peasant way. Now - thin sliced (and burned). Same with the bacon - it was a thick piece of just heart stopping goodness. But now, thin, burnt up and  - less. The bangers - only one this time. The mushrooms, barely there. It's a changing world, but Still. It's ME. They Should put in more effort. Ah well, closest Irish Breakfast One can get to in the spur of the moment.

One's Other nemesis, the Bench Press of Doom.

Speaking of heart stopping goodness. The bench press. One thinks One gets an extra bit of effort out of the fact that there's a bit of weight coming down to certainly kill me.

Find your motivation where you can.

Clearing the gym by the Power of Blood Borne Necrotizing Fasciitis !

Speaking Of, how does One manage to get the gym to empty out whenever One wants? Well, it's a little thing called "blood-borne necrotizing fasciitis" and the visible consequences of having lost most of your face to a lurid flesh eating disease.

American Civics with your Host Lord Malignance

Elsewhere on the Internet, One has been - Disappointed with the direction the country has taken. As a scientist One can take an objective look at this, and even allowing for trends in history, it's just bad out there. In the vein of "Be the Change You Want to See in the World" One has been toying with trying to run short videos going over what One cherishes about this country.

Some notes on how That is going. Well - as you can see, there are Problems. That's a professor's teaching robe, and it is embellished with padded arms and Something going on around the neck. The consequence of this being, it appears One has no neck. No Neck! The tie is, frankly, terrible. Wrong gloves (One should have the hands only demigloves, but One brought the gauntlets).

There's another thing happening as well. In confined spaces, One looms. It's disconcerting to people. In larger spaces One can appear less, well, obvious. It's a phenomenon One first noticed in the Dalek Builder's Club - in large spaces, Daleks seem normal. But in an English house for example, they appear Huge! So, work on this project on and off. It's not a passion per se, it's just - have you ever noticed the other people who live in this country?

Hundred+ year old books One can't get to. Can See them.

Back to the Lair being a Winchester Mystery House of generations of history - another telescopic view of the Library One can't get to.

Windows for Workgroups and DOS

And of course technology resources from forever ago. This is what One has to get rid of. Find homes for, or dump.

Going forward, the year is ending, and new one of promise upcoming. One has such questions! It's a curious condition One has, especially when a puzzle is placed before me. One is Getting to that library. Need to upgrade the helmet. The Lab is unusable for anything But study. The actual Study is currently offline, so the Lab is doing double duty. Triple duty if you note the books it's  holding belong in - the Library.

Need to come up with some caper - feeling a little cooped up in Winter, which by the way is unseasonably Warm for Winter in Colorado. There's a Home Automation system called "Yellow" -One is trying to integrate that into SUtech. The Wemos are going offline in January, so One must upgrade those to something Else, because One is not walking over to turn things on when One can scream at a home AI. A garden in memory of Bob might be nice, but then again, it's possible it will be a warm Summer, and that's tough on One in One's lobster suit. Though - there is Olathe Corn, said to be the sweetest in the world, and One can envision smuggling some down to the lower (farming) parts of the state. Maybe run a road trip to dreaded Texas and get some of that legendary barbecue (and steal secrets!) It's sad but true, but Colorado does not have a mature barbecue culture. We do Bison though (Manitu Curse, don't ask), but nothing with sauces and charring meat.

Need to be huge in Python this year, and One Still has 2.5hours of Python still to get through by midnight tomorrow.

UATD Malignobot in Design Aesthetic Streamline Moderne

U.A.T.D. Malignobot v2.0

Streamline Moderne ia late-stage variation of Art Deco that emerged in the 1930s during the Great Depression  It is defined by an obsession. with speed, aerodynamics, and the "Machine Age," shifting away from the ornate, vertical, and lavish decorations of early Art Deco toward a sleeker, horizontal, and more functional aesthetic.

Key Visual and Architectural Characteristics
The style sought to make static objects look as if they were in motion through several hallmark features:
  • Aerodynamic Curves: Buildings and objects feature smooth, rounded corners and cylindrical forms rather than sharp angles.
  • Horizontal Emphasis: Long, continuous horizontal lines—often called "speed lines"—run along facades to evoke a sense of velocity.
  • Nautical Elements: Many designs were influenced by luxury ocean liners, incorporating porthole windows, ship-like railings, and "deck-like" terraces. In France, this was specifically known as Style Paquebot (Ocean Liner Style).
  • Modern Materials: Common materials included smooth white stucco, glass block, chrome, and stainless steel, which provided a clean and "sanitary" look appropriate for the era's focus on technology and hygiene.
  • Flat Roofs: Buildings typically feature flat roofs, often with coping or parapets, to further emphasize horizontal planes.
And the banner is still trash.

The Banner is Still Trash

The Current Banner is still trash, but this is getting closer (credit to Gemini and 3 minutes of effort)

Just for fun, here is the Demon Verrier (the tempter of disobedience, especially to authority) and Oneself playing video games. When One should be studying Python. One has set a goal of 3hrs a week. Currently One has 45 minutes on the timer and need another 2hrs and 15 minutes before the end of tomorrow.

Why does Verrier look like that? Well, it's a classic look. It's Sir Francis Bacon of the Enlightenment with chicken legs. Medieval art always had demons looking a bit animal, and Bacon was a bane of the Church with his Scientific Method. It would be an interesting game though wouldn't it? There would be Glorious skullduggery and probably to music such as This

Back to study.

MalignanceCorp, LLC

The warnings at MalignanceCorp are far more specific.

There's a saying in the design and testing areas, and it goes like this;
"That? Oh, That will Definitely kill you".

At One point "Smart rechargeable batteries" were used in an iteration of Malignobots.
Because the Earth. Or something. Probably trying to compete with the military wing of Disney and whatever they had in the field at that time.
But - the batteries Are, in their own way, "smart" and would cause problems all on their own. You have to Coax them into a recharge mode, when they take a turn to choose Not to recharge.

Btw, All Engineers swear. Don't let them tell you otherwise. One tries Not to, but swearing appears to invoke some influence on probability, so One will swear with(at) them.

Bringing the Lab Online II

There's never enough time, and time goes by so quickly.

Digging out the lab, and some details;

Glassboard (SUtech), behind, whiteboard (Malignobot).

Biology Lab Surface

Electronics (underneath in cabinet, piles of projects)

Above you can see the model for SUtech, red knight chess piece (Maligknight), donkey model (ears) and horse face study.

That Typhonic Beast sticker. Best One can tell, for my modeling, is Horse face, forward eyes, and donkey ears. Maybe this larger mouth.

Research station - where the inspiration (stealing) happens.

There's the coding surface - but that's the one that is essentially piles of research hardcopy. And the M-Formula tower (robot models on bottom), but it is a bit mess.

Studying still goes on - trying to get that baby cert by March, which is typical Malignance: Improbable, and yet Somehow...

Python

So there's a lifetime certification out there (pcep) that expires in July, and One is trying to knock that out by March. 30 questions, multiple choice, practice test, pre-test, and retake for about $95. Without knowing Any python, with that much of a launch ramp One could pass it (70%). See Other schemes trying to get into the Triple 9 Society (One loves a good secretive cabal).

But it's the Learning part that's the trick. The learning to think of development (SUtech) in terms of python programming. And coincidentally, this showed up in my feed.

"When bilinguals switch between languages, they engage neural networks that manage context-dependent selection—choosing the appropriate linguistic system based on who they're talking to, where they are, what they're discussing. This requires mapping different contexts onto different response systems while maintaining coherent output." *

Previous work in neuroplasticity and nootropics (and juggling, music) as background research there , but that's all meat hardware. Psychology today is talking Software - learning structures. So, something new There.

Bringing the Lab Online and Other Misfortunes...

Trying to bring the Lab online and, if being honest, it's been a dumping space for research for perhaps overlong. A lot isn't working and a surprising amount is obsolete. One doesn't have the video editing abilities - the software is Here - nothing is ever Lost, it just can't be Found.
Picture and a video for testing.

Trying to describe the origins of Sutekh - the mythical typhonic beast headed Egyptian god, and the old timey Doctor Who episode "The Pyramids of Mars". You can see the Sutekh figure up on that high shelf. And a stack of research. Washington Carver and Richard Feynman (SCIENCE!)

Testing Sound and Motion; Lighting?

One wanted to reappear in a form familiar before wandering around MalignanceCorp, wherever, and wearing the aforementioned "Coding Hoodie" (One is a clothes horse), and don't blame Me. One finds need to wear raiment to occasion to offset the burden of countenance.
If you wear a helmet, you know.

Not even certain how this can be entertaining as most of this will be studying and - if past predicts future, failures followed by backwards engineering (debugging) to determine Why, and then fixing it only to find New failures.

Oh - the banner is still garbage. The previous post One is putting a pin in that idea and calling it "Infinite Malignance". And then One found This, which is actually an extrapolation of that innovation;
Botnets on Legs.  (Ai in robot form). The old Douglas Adams Genuine People Personalities. But then again, here is One, behind the development curve.

It's exciting and new and something unexpected is developing. Humanoid robots, AI, we could find ourselves in The Caves of Steel before the end of the decade.

The LM Ai

One just had a thought for an Evil Scheme.

One is entirely possible to be recreated as an Ai agent. The language, of which there is Volumes online, the objectives and aims, behavior, image, - it's all terribly Predictable, and reproducible. The agent could extend the peril of my will across the globe - in any language and at a volume of output One could never match.

And it would be immortal.

But, the current project load makes all that unlikely. Intriguing, but unlikely. Comparatively, the SUtech Ai just said "Hello World" (but it Did work).

Advantages of being a MetaVillain, One has been inadvertently designed to be replaceable. And you might counter - "but what of the human Soul? What about creativity, and compassion?" However as an Internet Gadfly and Tourist, One doesn't really Employ those attributes.

So an interesting thought experiment. Maybe after SUtech runs the Lair, the Maligknights are rolling around fixing things, and the UATD Malignobots stop immolating each other, a project for a future time.

There are undoubtedly such synthetic people online somewhere, but so far as One knows, no Ai Villains.

As to my endeavors In that arena, One has picked up a "coding hoodie", because coding hoodies are cool. More claustrophobia, because you really only get 99.99999% there with the helmet.

Back to work. Hello world.

Bet an Ai could write this blog. They Do now. But not This one.

As far as you know.

A Strange Thing Happened On the Way Back Into the Shadows ...

Some quick notes to follow up on later.

In preparing for the Upgrade of the Lair AI SUtech One has been doing some training and some research into Artificial Intelligence and looking at possibilities and limitations. Remember - SUtech as an Ai goes all the way back 10 to 15 years ago, and it's only recently that Ai has become so convenient to steal. Some Python Programming Language and Data Science and you can practically have it write itself for free. And One has both.

But of course, that wouldn't be enough for a Villain. No, the fun in this is the creation, as certainly clunky as it will undoubtedly be. But that Does speak to the next cutting edge - not commercial Ai, but personalized and private Ai (why should Musk, Zuckerberg, and Bezos take value from One's metadata? Let them kick rocks).

So That's the area One is going to try to work in, along with robotics of course, and some Lair Automation. The Malignobots need an overhaul in concept and practicality, and the Maligknight just looks like fun (One has so much concept to pull from).

Unmanned Automous Terrestrial Drone (UATD) Malignbot Model 1.0

The above created with 2 minutes of time with a below average Ai, but what a good result? That's the possibility, but then there Are the Limitations;

Heh.

A Remembrance of Bob the Minion

The banner on this page is trash - it's a placeholder for the concept.

There's some unfortunate news and out of respect for an old friend One felt obliged to make a small tribute lest his life be unremembered.

Bob the Minion has gone off the radar. And if you remember back, there was a time when the Lair was staffed by Bob, One's seneschal, Ghost of Nixon (the Snow Ninja), and Comrade Cocoa, the criminal canine. Cocoa, the Minion of Mao, died, Nixon went to prison (since paroled), but rules about criminals collaborating keep him away in Yorba Linda performing magic and whatever else he may.

Bob, eventually left ahead of a dragnet in the area concerning missing animals. If you knew 5 things about Bob, they were that he was superstitious, spoke about 30 words of English, was unceasingly cruel, technology was his anathema, and the least most interesting thing would be that he was Strigoi Vii (born with red hair).

So Bob, racing ahead of a manhunt which Would have found him (there were witnesses and Bob was unmistakable in his cassock and his roaming around at night), escaped to Ciudad Juarez to continue his very unsocial behaviors where they might go unnoticed.

Now that aspect of Bob that was unceasingly cruel - it was a, One doesn't know, a hobby? A character trait? It could be moderated if it could be directed, but without an outlet, it would get out and Bob would leave a trail. When he went to Mexico, if you knew the stories to search for, you could find Bob.

If you searched further back, you could trace Bob from Idaho in the 70s before records became less available. He came to the Lair a little after 2005 and stayed a few years.

Another funny story - Bob lived in a closet. Not a large closet, just a closet. And not because there wasn't room - no, that's what Bob wanted. He owned few things. More on that in a moment.

So Bob went to Mexico, and you could find the stories of heads showing up in places, assumed to be the cartels, but of course not always.

Then that fool putin invaded Ukraine.

Bob was Roma and for whatever reason, had some ties to mountainous lands in that area, so it was more than likely Bob would have hitched a ride on a boat (stowed away more likely) and made his way back to Europe to do what only Bob could do. Strange thing to remember here, but Bob looked like he was somewhere in his 50s, but he Must have been older. Red hair still, and white, but he was, nimble, agile even. Not sure why that's weird, just one of those Bob stories.

Of course if you knew where to look, you could find Bob in Ukraine. Stories of russian soldiers being tortured and murdered - some of that, and probably quite a bit, was Bob.
It was the lurid cruelty for no reason that made it obviously his work.

And then the stories have stopped. There's still atrocities because russians Are russians, but the news reports that would be Bob are just gone.

Bob can't not be Bob, so he's been stopped. He wouldn't have lived in houses, he didn't need to, but he would have hunted them in houses at night. And while certainly couldn't have been killed (he was sneaky), they would booby trap houses and it's a high probability considering that Bob was a casualty of such a trap.

Another characteristic of Bob - Bob could not and would not grasp a lot of modern technology. He could operate a TV and a microwave, but saw no reason to. He was adept at a telephone. That he could figure out (land lines not smart phones, oh no, never those). He liked to garden, but would only grow things that grew underground - turnips, beets, potatoes and the like, but never anything in the onion family. He would pat the ground and say "them sleepink". Who knows what thought about seeds? And "Wampires nu spahrklee!" He hated the stories of handsome vampires, and Nixon would torment him so.

They say, if you know where to look, you can see any number of serial killers operating in the United States at any time. The data - police reports, patterns, they appear. The FBI doesn't like to advertise this for obvious reasons. Spoilers - more than a few are long haul truck drivers - body dumping in out of the way places, and never around any place long enough for a pattern to form in any one police station. That was Bob on a smaller scale. Think "Traumatic Amputation" and you get an idea of the data points Bob would throw out.

So this remembrance of Bob, ends with something Bob left behind. He took his two Khukri knives (bent boomering looking things), but he left his Kilij. Not a shamshir or a scimitar, a kilij. Every great house in feudal times had a symbol denoting the Honor of the House, and out of respect for Bob, until such time as he might take to come and collect it back, that beaten up old piece of metal will be the feudal symbol of the Honor of the Mighty Colorado Holdfast, and in memory of Bob.

The Malignance Mob is thinning out.
